Grannies Come In All Shapes And Sizes Poem by Elayne Ogbeta

Grannies Come In All Shapes And Sizes

Grannies come in all shapes and sizes,
Some use Zimmer frames, others do exercises.
Some splash out with trinkets and toys,
While others are tight as a fist with girls and boys.

Some are content with a puzzle or two,
Crosswords and knitting they love to pursue.
Some have all their teeth, some have none at all,
Some are very nosy, peeping over neighbour's wall.

Black hair, brown hair, hair as white as snow
Some stand straight, others bend like a bow.
There are grannies everywhere look around and see
In garden and streets, in all communities.

There's Granny May, who bakes the best pies,
Plucking apples from her garden, nearly reaching the skies.
She hums as she bakes, her kitchen a delight,
When her grandkids visit, she fills their hearts with light.

Then there's Granny Sue, who loves to dance,
She waltzes around with such elegant prance.
In her living room, she teaches great moves,
All the grandkids groove to their favourite grooves.

Granny June is the queen of gardening,
Her flowers bloom bright, her veggies astounding.
She wears a straw hat and sings to her plants,
And they seem to grow taller under her enchant.

Granny Rose is the storyteller supreme,
With tales of dragons, knights, and a dream.
She weaves magic with every word she utters,
Into lands of endless wonders, she ushers.

Grannies come in all shapes and sizes,
Each with their own special surprises.
But the best ones of all are surely mine,
With hearts of gold they are treasures that shine.
