Going Through A Trial Poem by Etienne Charilaou

A sad refrain now coursing
always through my brain,
and at times it feels hard to maintain.
A friend's kind words:
‘When you keep surviving these trials,
you will be wiser and surprised.
Just keep on.'

There's not much choice but to go on -
I cannot fold. It will be interesting to see
what wisdom there may be….

All things change; all things pass.
And perhaps sooner than I think,
this burden too will be lifted
