Ghost Soldiers Of Mclennan County Poem by Hubert Wilson

Ghost Soldiers Of Mclennan County

He knows they will always be back!
During his dreams they attack!
Deathly pallor of faint blue and gray!
Mangled bodies and minds on display!
Depths of grief for family and friends -
It never ends!
They always ask why -
Why they were led awry?
In him they had completely believed -
Only to be nefariously deceived?
He will never admit!
Such a tragedy he did commit!
Treason is too slight a word
For what occurred!
Thousands died
Because of what he tried to hide!
Now they nocturnally return!
For the simple truth they yearn!
Creeping across his darkened ranch land -
Nighly terror for him as their numbers expand!
He has no valid reasons to be offered -
By this most pathetic 'Coward of Crawford'!
