Gatekeeper Poem by Birgit Bunzel Linder

Gatekeeper

I am the wind that never rests.
I am the shadow that flees across the crescent dunes.
I am a message wafting from the ylang-ylang tree.
I am a dove with silver wings of sorrow.

I am the silence that falls on you like snow.
I am the whisper that dwells in your night.
I am the bliss that tip-toes around your heart.
I am the wine of your fleeting delight.
I am the water that washes your feet.
I am the third eye of your sustenance.

I am the measure that measures the wingspan of your dreams.
I am the resolve packed compact to fit your heart.
I am the dew that settles on the morning of your hopes.

I am a hunger artist pacing your soul.
I am the golden trumpet of your calamity.
I am the moon that wanes with your desire.
I am the feather that drifts in your loss.
I am your leavened bread of bitterness.
I am the path that lost your way.
I am the home that locked your doors.

I am the sin that subsumes all other sin.
I am the rock that gathers all other rocks.

I am the hour of your humble return.
I am the coal that adorns your crown.

I am the seventh step around your fire.

I am the lonely bird on your rooftop.
I am the pelican of your wilderness.
I am the prison of your solitude.

I am the gatekeeper of your soul.
You are the landlord of my tenderness.
