From Your Daughter Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

From Your Daughter

I'm sorry for placing you in some form of false predicament,
Making you have that whole hearted wrong judgement.
Did I speak too soon to make you feel as if I owe you some form of endowment?
Oh please, save your voice on that unheard announcement.
I am not placed here to serve you and be some form of fulfilment.

It is aggravating,
Why can't you see I too, am suffocating,
From your negativity which is leaching.
This behavior is completely unbecoming.

So I ask of you to disregard my rude behavior,
My countless actions which make you feel like a failure,
I too suffer.
I beg of you please stop comparing me to her.
Wed- and already having a partner.
I have a different path of which I am after.
If only you could see striving for it brings me whole hearted laughter.
When you bicker,
It makes trying a whole lot harder.
So please see me as your daughter.
And not some mere achievement to show another.

If only you could see the vision I have from my eyes,
Maybe then, it won't be a complete disguise.
