For Whitman Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

For Whitman

When the world sleeps, I see you,
See you keeping awake,
Loafing and rambling
When the world sleeps, I see you
Standing as a night watchman,
A time-keeper, a ragged man
Himself but dressed shabbily,
Uncouth and clumsy
But keeping a watch on all around,
Singing the song of America
Just like a ballad-singer, a patriot unacknowledged.
