First Day Poem by R B Seals

First Day

[New Year's Day]

Launched worldwide in locales far ‘n near,
Beyond gala fireworks few will see;
Many in mass will celebrate with jubilant glee
This special first day of gloried new year.
In initial hours filled with eager cheer,
Alone some reflect beyond the here
Recalling past trials with sigh ‘n tear,
Facing days ahead with little joy—mainly fear.
Fragile hearts filled anxious at what will be,
Many concerned of what fate will decree.

For those of love ‘n charity the task is clear,
Be mindful of what your heart can hear;
For this shall be a noble adventure:
To aid your neighbor in works of action,
To promote, to strive fruitful and prosper—
Thus, be adorned; clothed with compassion.
