Falling Tears Poem by Indika Thushara Gamage

Falling Tears

Rating: 4.0

The rainbow fell
the sky cries uncontrollably
someone was trampling on the deadly bamboo thorn
and my father was holding a jack fruit tree on the edge
of the barren land where he had died

he grabbed a branch of an old cashew tree
and asked for a sip of water
Ascended to the sky
his own sister and family took poles and
surrounded the home

the moon lamp frozen and fell on the edge of the well
someone is mourning today
with her hands on the soles of the graves
in the visible darkness.
