Eternity's Clock Is Ticking Poem by Jim Norausky

Eternity's Clock Is Ticking

Rating: 3.9

I remember her well

she was a beautiful young nun
(I wondered about that later in life)

teaching young children about eternity.

Perhaps she had a training manual

nevertheless the lesson stuck.

If you envision Mt. Everest

made of diamonds, she said

the hardest material on earth

and a fly brushed the mountain

as it flew by every hundred years

the time it would take to wear

the mountain level to the ground

from the friction of its wings

would be one second in eternity.

For a young boy seconds don't count

other things to scurry about-

sounds like a long time though-

Recently, I wrote my life story

in just six words:

'Always in hurry, going nowhere fast'.

But there are not many seconds left

in this old body

having already spent 2 billion.

But, I'm late for a very important date,

what time do you have my friend?

Before we come to rest.

Our lives are but a blink of the eye as far as eternity is concerned.Every second counts..a ten very reflective.
