Our tiny regal boat fit for two
Barely more than a glorified canoe
Wood worn down to a lustrous shine
By our joyful frames and father time
Your shoulders how they moved
My rowing nearly stopped
Face to face in a summer sun
Two souls truly drifting as one
A sun dappled river dancing with light
A moment of serenity, of purest delight
A couple in love needing nothing else
As a hitchiking damselfly suns herself
Only very rarely do we enjoy such oneness and when that happens the world is not - the world is taken in and we go fulsome. That is the most perfect state. Or, is it a state at all? Your poem of romance captures and shines this truth. Loved it. (10)
I have known a few wonderful woman in my time. Yet twenty years later I think of only one. I was not mature enough and she was mature beyond her years. The old saying if I only knew then what I know now is so very true. The story is long and yet no Hollywood or Bollywood ending. I wish her only happiness even if it is not with me. Strange and perhaps revealing is that what I miss the most is her friendship and her dignity.
Love this one Edmund. So romantic and the imagery you create could surely form the foundation for a beautiful piece of painted art. I love the final line where the two lovers need nothing else than the damslefly that hitchhikes on their boat....well done and just lovely.
