Dragon In My Garage Poem by Roy Blokker

Dragon In My Garage

(for Carl Sagan)

There’s a dragon in my garage.
You can’t see him, he is invisible.
He breathes fire that has no heat;
He makes no foot prints because he hovers.
He’s much too careful to knock things over
And make a mess. But he’s there:
Can you deny me? He watches over me
Like some crimson winged angel
And keeps me safe so long as I
Too am in the garage, no matter
The weather.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem came from a metaphor for proving the unprovable that Carl sagan used in his book, 'The Demon-haunted World.' The image struck me as wonderfully amusing; the implications are much more serious. Still, like any self-respecting little boy of 65, I love dragons!

Delightful. (I am a Carl Sagan Fan too.) Thanks for sharing, Roy.
