I want him to win
he has the truth within his words
he has the determination within his mind
he has the confidence within his heart.
When realities confronts a man
more than once or twice
he becomes wiser than that eagle
which though soars high in the skies
can watch its prey on the earth's surface.
Who will not want a president
who can promise his country
that the tomorrows shall have
no unworthiness of life,
where enemies will not dwell
and make you die in your own land
by terror attacks where bombs explode
right in your face at your work place
or at your bus or train station?
Who will dare to find or stop
those that unleash terror in your
neighbourhood and schools
while those in power sleep in peace
and wake up to give sympathy speeches
when horrendous blasts have already occurred
without warning or without a reason
thus making families live in fear and insecurity.
That soaring eagle is he who can foresee
what will be and choose to glide down
and scoop away those who defy
the tranquility of this world.
Let him be that leader
who can bring that grace to humanity
by preventing terror and wars,
let him enhance that solidarity
where people have not to run as refugees,
let him take upon himself that duty
of his promises and offer you solace
of a tomorrow so vibrant, so real,
in your own country, in the whole world
which my eyes are longing to see;
as, though diplomacy had played its role
and content were world leaders with their efforts
so vulnerable were people who faced its brunt
that civil wars, rebels made them run
even jump in boats and cross the seas
to save their lives, their children,
sometimes they have pitilessly drowned.
Do we need to choose those leaders again
and face the dilemma of yesterday
or is it better to place our shaken faith
in the trust of the one who stands tall
amidst those who talked and talk
who were elected yet could not prevent
the crisis where people have to flee
from their own countries even by foot
as if a forest fire rages behind their backs
while nations and presidents watch the exodus.
No commitment is greater than self-sacrifice,
no duty is greater than patriotism,
let him be that leader
who will bring grace to humanity.
