Different People One Nation Poem by Folorunsho Ahmed adekunle

Thousands trees
Of different species,
Together In one forest,
Grows in unity, in rain and sun on the earth.

Can a single tree make a forest? Never!
So is Nigeria,
As big as a cube of sugar is Nigeria as a nation,
Her people crave for the sweetness on motion,

Can a single ant lift the sugar?
Only unity and togetherness can move the sugar,
Brothers need brothers truly,
Together as one is priority.

Did you hear the voice of past heroes?
A loud voice reminding us all of the oath,
Their cry became a plight of time,
Together in peace like dove we'll make things right!

In oneness our past heroes rebelled,
To earn us independence,
Against oppression,
From the brutal men from foreign nations.

How then shall we grow up as a country?
When tribalism, nepotism and ethnicity,
Prey on us?
On our own ancestral soil.

When tolerance anchored our ship,
And we cruise in love on the sea,
And joy fill our heart day and night,
Verily unto thee i say! We shall never capsize.

Though diverse religion and ethnicity,
Yet, same blood of unity,
Should run through our vein.
Together as one nation, we shall prevail.

Nigeria a fighting warrior,
In battle of success among nations of the world,
Never can we triumph among them,
If we go to war divided.

Oh my beloved Nigeria!
The giant whale of Africa!
Can we continue to be giant as said?
If the parts got divided?

Different people, one nation!
Together as a nation,
In peace and harmony,
Anywhere across country and oversea.

Though we are different people,
Yet, that does not make us cripples!
We can live in peace and harmony!
And restore our good testimony!
