Death, My Love Poem by Alaina B.

Death, My Love

Rating: 5.0

I've fallen in love with Death
She is beautiful
With sardonic smiles and indifferent grins
She cares so much but never quite enough
I often flirt with her
Dodging and running for only a glimpse
Anything just to see her again
Does she love me back?
I think so, with the way she laughs
She knows my name, but she never says it
Her sarcastic flattery is fun until it hurts
The way she jokes like she can't see
Can't see how much I love her
Maybe she does not love me
Not in the way I do, at least
Death is so busy
She can't always make time for me
I share her with every other person, alive and dead
But they don't love her in the way I do

It's not my time yet
That's what she's said
I could be with her forever, if it were only my turn
I could bother Death eternally, but she won't let me
Oh, the irony
That Death is the love of my life
That I can't live without her
But I'll never have her while I breathe
