Dear White Rabbit Poem by Dorsey Baker

Dear White Rabbit

Dear white rabbit
with your floppy ears
big round eyes
and cynical smile
I think
you've come to bring
me good luck
you come hopping along
I feel
the fur upon your back
a carpet thick and creamy
your nose looks wet
as grass after the mist
of a moist morning dew
your legs cocked
like a pistol
and ready to run
away
Dear white rabbit
you laugh at me
and my frown
turns to laughter too
as I step out into the world
once again
gambling with fate
ready to take my chances!
