Blue Emeralds

For JZ Schafer
My friend wrote a poem with blue emeralds in it
There are no blue emeralds in nature
scattered entries say blue green perhaps with the
Green a dominant chord
But now they exist in his poem
How can I not sigh
I wish I had thought of them myself
But never mind
The significant thing is this
From his poem they shine
And shine
And shine
He was meant to find them
I am content to know of them;
Happy as a chirping yellow bird that
Now they are immortal
In the fairy tale lexicon
Of mysterious imaginings.
