Black Butterfly Poem by Diana Kouprina

Black Butterfly

Black Butterfly
I felt you here with me
The day they told me you had a stroke,
I knew your soul was here,
By my heart
By my mind
By my soul
Always
Although, I questioned it at first
My questioning,
My doubts
My grief
My fear
My aloneness
My panicked soul
A butterfly black shimmering came to me lightly
She was black with peacock markings
Such beauty never seen in my life
Except within your soul
She flew around me
Circles, Circles
A warm embrace
Landing near my feet on the cement
No flowers in sight
She stayed with me a while
Before I let her go
No more doubts
No more fear
No panic
No more questions to be asked
I knew you were here,
And always will be,
In my Heart and Spirit
In my Soul
Pure love
By my side.
