Blacberry Blackboys

BlackBerry Blackboys

Summer solar rays
glaze the skin
of the lost melanin kin
two or more to his none.
Like blackberries ripening
sweetness upon sweetness
until they leak indigo hued juices
From basking in the sun.

My mama said;
"The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice"
and yous might have heard
that Tupac did too.
Laughing at what she said
I then blushed a lor red
and thought in my head
It can't get no sweeter than you.

I'm an artist indeed
and I respect the writers creed
so I really don't like
describing black folks as food.
But only out of request
I'll trespass upon respect
to share a lor on how I feel about you
