Being Remembered Poem by Randy McClave

Being Remembered

Will I be remembered for my writing
Or maybe instead I will be remembered for my fighting,
I hope that I am remembered for my helping and my deeds
Where joy and happiness and peace always leads.
And then when unto heaven I go after I have passed away,
I hope that good thoughts about me people will say.

Some people will be remembered because of their lies
Some will be remembered of their self pity and cries,
I hope those people are not remembered for their mistakes
I hope that they are given forgiveness, and breaks.
When this life of theirs they have finally left,
I truly hope for them, that there is mercy and bereft.

Some people will be remembered only for their clothes
Some will be remembered for the friends they chose,
Then some will be remembered for their looks
Then some will be remembered only from books.
Sadly many will be remembered for their judging and hate,
And how they would stay angry, and then would dictate.

Some people will be remembered for their cheating
Some will be remembered for their mistreating,
And some will be remembered for the troubles that they stirred
And some will be remembered for their broken word.
Sadly many will be remembered because of their sins,
Many will be remembered for their losses, and not their wins.

Some people will be remembered for telling the truth
Some will be remembered for being vulgar and uncouth,
Of course some will be remembered for their pain and conflict
Of course many will be remembered on how they were used and tricked.
Sadly some will be remembered for being filthy and coarse,
Some will be remembered for not seeking forgiveness or remorse,

How will you be remembered after you have left this life
Will you be remembered as a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife,
Will you be remembered on how you had treated another
Maybe you will be remembered for being a father or a mother.
Maybe you will be remembered for what you had shown and taught,
Remember this, you too will be remembered, but for what?
