Behind These Eyes Poem by Kevin Patrick

Behind These Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Behind these eyes of painted blue
There is no door you can get through
No pane to crack or hinge to split
Just a starving scream with splintered wits

Like a star encaged behind the night
Or a bird whose songs recondite
Here's a heart chipped out of broken glass
Its scars are there to feed your mass

And every day's a new act to play
The lead whose roles to be your Prey
Cloaked in smiles to beguile
In fashioned moods that stay in style

For I'm a ghost without a home
Haunting myself inside lost bones
But you'll never see me as I am
A shadow sleeping as a man
