Away With Words

Rating: 5.0

I was told today
that I have a way
with words, but
I don't need them at all.

Come sit here beside me.
Put your head on my shoulder
and let me put my arm
around yours.

You don't have to say
a word, and I won't
utter a single one.

Let me stroke your hair
and smell your heavenly
coconut shampoo.

Let my lips find your
cheek, your ear, the tip
of your nose, your lips.

My tongue has nothing
to say. I have no words
but many thoughts.

This is my first attempt at writing a love poem, and is dedicated to my wife. We have been married for more than 52 years. We have four children, eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

Yes, that is a wedding picture of us.

Lovely words for a man who has no words to say. Love the photo, too!

Might I say, that love in a poem is presented more beautifully than in real life? I think this lovely work proves that I am right.
