Awake, Maybe Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Awake, Maybe

Rating: 5.0

As daybreak dawns
Frost upon the lawns
The cold begins to bite
Waking up not a pretty sight
Hair tousled all over the place
I get moving at some pace
Running late once again
Having to hurry to catch my train
Knickers bra and dress
Straighten myself up, what a mess
Foundation, powder and lip gloss
Oh, dropped the nail varnish, now I am cross
A little eyeliner and pencilled brow
This repair job ready right now
Comb raked quickly through my hair
Look in the mirror to compare
High heels oh these sling backs
Walking I make little pointed tracks
Well I am ready to hit the road
Wait, what day is it? I implode
Darn, Sunday a day to rest
Scream, all right, it is off my chest

Witty and an often accurate depiction of a hurried morning as it happened to me but if was a Saturday lol. Wonderfully written. Thank you.
