Autopilot Poem by Peter Black

Autopilot

Rating: 3.0

I set controls to starboard,
Move at a steady clip and pace
Around the corner,
And make my way
Towards my destination, though forgot
The reason I first went; what I hoped to gain;
But soon quickly I am caught
In conversations and the rocks:
A perilous stretch where I must navigate
In so many 'wows' and 'yeahs'
Matching the fake smiles I see in the stars;
Arriving I am lonely and feel lost.
