As long as it was in my head
It made perfect sense
We smiled
Laughed
We sang
Danced
We cuddled
Held each other close
No one willing to let go
As long as it was in my head
It made perfect sense

Why can't this be real
More real than the morning sun
Why can't this be real
More real than the sunset
Why does the ocean rage at the birthing of this magical story
As long as it was in my head it made perfect sense

Now reality unfolds
Now face to face with the day
All my dreams unable to grasp
Letting go though desiring to hold on
Maybe this wasn't meant to be
Maybe this story was only meant to stay in my head
Maybe sometimes love means letting the other go

As long as it was in my head it made perfect sense

If I had my way I'd make this story a reality
If I had my way I'd keep you for all eternity
You're worth all the fight
But the universe had a different plan.
Maybe it's best this way
