Are You A Christian Or A Disciple? Poem by Luke Easter

In your mind be strong if physically weak,
Under all circumstances continue to seek,
I’m a Disciple and very proud to proclaim,
Yes! Eternally blessed by His holy name.

Jesus never said the word Christian okay?
He said to make disciples for this very day,
Christians always have an excuse to claim,
A reason for fumbling and loosing the game,

Philippians 4: 13, Christ strengthens me,
There’s no need to settle for mediocrity.
I’m not a simple anything the reason why?
That is only laziness and the devil’s lies.

Given these reasons spend a little more time,
2nd Timothy 1: 7, it’s a power & love filled mind,
Do you remember this one boys and girls?
John 3: 16, For God so loved the world…

Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins,
Keep thinking you’re a sinner; you’ll never win,
What does it mean to be born again? John 3: 3,
Grace is received by the Blood shed at Calvary.

Whatever is lacking in your spiritual life,
That’s causing you to stumble & toil in strife,
Where does it say defeat is meant to enjoy?
It’s the thief who comes to kill, steal & destroy.

Stop using being a Christian as an excuse to lose,
Crying I’m not perfect I can’t walk in Jesus’ shoes,
Failure is not an option understand this is a test,
To prove you are worthy and receive God’s best.

Certainly we are prone to make human mistakes,
Yet, faith in God means we can also regenerate,
John 3: 17, Jesus didn’t condemn so why should we,
No, it’s not ok to settle for being number two or three.

Never under estimate the power of the Holy Ghost,
The Comforter is placed inside to bring out the most,
Defeat is not the reason our Christ Jesus was sent,
Can you live in a place without paying all the rent?

The term Christian is not meant to imply,
A built in, ready to use, excuse and alibi,
Oh I see, once again, it’s time to mention,
The road to hell’s paved with good intentions.

Start everyday in Jesus Christ with a daily fix,
Now open your bible and read twice 1st John 2: 6,
End the day with a scripture of your own choosing,
Keep your mind focused on winning & not loosing.

If you sent your child to suffer like Jesus The Christ,
Would it be ok for people to return with part of their life?
To whisper a quiet praise instead of a mighty shout,
Are you satisfied with the answer you’ve figured out?

Have you ever seen the movie “Passion Of The Christ? '
Remember walking out of the theater with a changed life?
Oh my Lord Jesus, I’m so sorry, I will do this and that,
Months or years later now where are your promises at?

Disciple appears once in the Old Testament,258 in the new,
Christian is mentioned 3 times but much from pulpit and pew,
Acts 11: 26, “Disciples were first called Christians only 1 time, ”
Disciples will charge ahead while Christians sit back & whine.

The Christian or Disciple, decide which one are you,
Look them up there is a difference between the two,
Heck, I’ve heard pastors say they’re one in the same,
Once again how come Jesus never spoke that name?

Be committed not involved & difference between them?
Involvement are levels 1-9 while committed is level 10,
Okay, you’re having steak and eggs for breakfast today,
1 chicken can provide for years & the cow, life he paid.

But, Peter denied Christ three times and yes this is true,
Yet the journey is not overnight it’s like going thru school,
There’s a process one must painstakingly endure to the end,
Christian or Disciple, on your mark, set, go, how do you begin?
