Ambition Poem by David Welch

Ambition

I want to make it so bad,
do it all by myself,
I plan to conquer the world,
just me and nobody else.
I'm gonna reign like a king,
though it's tough and its hard,
but one day you'll look at me
driving expensive cars.

Seen folks laugh mockingly,
see them do it for kicks,
someday they'll work for me
gonna get the last licks!
I'm no longer nice and small
I am no longer silent,
they say I can't have it all
but I will never relent.

There ain't no beta male in me,
buried him back when I was sixteen,
not content being where you are,
I got this one life, I'm taking it far,
Ambition…

Some people say that it's greed,
jealousy makes them spurn,
but I want nothing for free,
every red cent I will earn.
They'll say I'm ‘keeping them down, '
but if you want a good life,
then stop lazing around,
and crying ‘victim' all night.

It's much more than the cash,
that pushes a man on,
it's about blazing a path,
That will be remembered long.
Yes, my buildings will rise high,
my products sweet to the taste,
go to the grave with pride,
leaving my mark on this place.

There ain't no beta male in me,
buried him back when I was sixteen,
not content being where you are,
I got this one life, I'm taking it far,
Ambition…
