Alchemy Poem by jewel mazhar

Alchemy

Rating: 3.5

This smile is mine. Yet it forsakes me
to illuminate the cheeks of others.

As if I am some wanton fish, who
defying all prohibitions,
surfaced here - -unnoticed!

Here I do hang from some other fisherman's net.

Someone comes and mixes me up
with the blood of some other guy.

Indecipherable alchemy!
Heaps of doubtful snow and mysterious oxygen-
smoked with clouds and sun-rays and Sal ammoniacs-
Cause me to grow in trees
in the form of million-seed fruits.

As if I am the incantated embryo of a dolphin
deep within the womb of the ocean.

Above those insurmountable walls and hills
the bird takes its flight.

And that the North and South poles drag it near like magnets.

That the Cape Of Good Hope and the azure sky above
call it up;

They call me up as well!

I dwell within her as she is all smiles inside me

Left utterly perplexed and embarrassed
yet illuminated
I am beyond myself smeared in blue
