A Translation Of Pablo Neruda's 'always': Humesha (In Hindi) Poem by Souren Mondal

A Translation Of Pablo Neruda's 'always': Humesha (In Hindi)

Rating: 4.9

Mai jalta nahi hoon usse
jo aaya pehle mujhse.

Kisi ek admi ke saath aao
apne kandho par bithake usse,
apne lambe balon mein sau admio ko le kar
aao,

Le kar aao ek hazaron ko aapne seene
aur pairon ke beech,

Aao kisi nadi ki tarah
bhari huyi ho jo dube ashiqon se
behti huyi aao pagal saagaron ki tarah,
kabhi na khatam ho jo
waisi anantakaleen dharon ki tarah behne do

Behne do unhe samai ke akhri akshar se bhi aage!

Le karo aao unhe -
Un sab ko
waha jaha main tumhara intezaar kar raha hoon;

Humesha

hum akele honge
tum aur mai
akele is duniya mein

Humari ek nayi zindigi shuru kar ne ke liye!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Translator's Note:

The original poem is Pablo Neruda's 'Always' that I have translated as 'Humesha'.. To be frank, this is my very first attempt to translate anything from English to Hindi.. I had done Hindi to English, and Bengali to English translations before, but this is a new experience.. I want to apologise to anyone who may find this translation 'inappropriate' and hence I have not set this up as an 'official' translatiom of Neruda's poem, i.e did not link it with the original poem..

This is just an experiment, and again I apologise if some find my translation faulty...

The original poem is here put up -

ALWAYS

I am not jealous

of what came before me.

Come with a man

on your shoulders,

come with a hundred men in your hair,

come with a thousand men between your breasts and your feet,

come like a river

full of drowned men

which flows down to the wild sea,

to the eternal surf, to Time!

Bring them all

to where I am waiting for you;

we shall always be alone,

we shall always be you and I

alone on earth,

to start our life!

Pablo Neruda

I hope, and sincerely wish, that my endeavour would not be seen as a complete failure.. Constructive criticism is very needed on this, as I am trying to give myself a shot as a translator...

Thank you for reading

Flawless translation of Neruda's masterpiece. Doesn't look like this is your first English to Hindi work. Congratulations, Souren. I really enjoyed the same. This welcome addition should continue. I would like to quote from the poem: Aao kisi nadi ki tarah bhari huyi ho jo dube ashiqon se behti huyi aao pagal saagaron ki tarah, waha jaha main tumhara intezaar kar raha hoon;

Thank you Rajnish.. A word of approval from my senior poets like you mean the whole world for me.. It inspires me.. These are all endeavours that would have been absolutely futile had there been no interactions with my fellow members. I write to honour my peers, as well as to pay a homage to those who had inspired me to be a poet. And Neruda stands as one amongst them.. Perhaps the greatest love poet of the modern era.. I am grateful to all of you. Thank you. A very, very big thank you to accept me and give me so much love.
