‘Tis more than forty years ago we wed
The lady of my love and my life
That sweet young girl with hair of auburn red
The one I am now proud to call my wife
We settled down and made ourselves a home
In years gone by we filled it with three boys
Now all moved out we are free to roam
Enjoy a house that's quiet with no noise
The birds have flown and left an empty nest
A calm that somehow does not feel quite right
A good life we have had and both feel blessed
To be as one approaching our twilight
In my eyes I still see that same young girl
And I would never swap you for the world.
