A Prisoner's Laments Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

A Prisoner's Laments

Rating: 5.0

A Prisoner's Lament

As i could be a dead song from the dark waters,

As i could be an element of a fraudulent dream,

As i could be a fault of nature,
Disowned by poetry and abandon by God's grace,

And priests and church cannot cleanse my soul from mortal sin,
and hell's brimfire.

As i could be the greatest mistakes you will make in your life,

A permament stain unwashable by soap and hard detergents

A doom curse in your subsequent andmiserable life,

As your father, mother, society and court had prejudged me like a felon without the benifit of a doubt,

Stop visiting me in my prison cell and forget about me.
