A Parent And A Child Poem by Alice Cordy

A Parent And A Child

Amanda, you're going on leave,
so pull up your sleeves.
As you are about to become a mum,
it's a time to cherish what's to come.
A gift from heaven above,
for your family to adore and love.
A special little boy,
who will bring so much joy.
He will bring sunshine to your world,
while being spoilt by the girls.
With tiny hands and feet,
he's made your family complete.

While you watch him grow,
he'll be always on the go.
From a crawl, to leaning to walk.
From a squawk, to their never-ending talk.
Always wanting to keep him safe and sound,
even in the playground.
With guidance and gently warmth of your loving arms,
he'll woo you with his charm.
You will teach him to share and how to take turns
so don't be over concern.
As with your morals and aspects,
he'll be perfect.

The bond between a parent and a child
is expressed through their smiles.
This little boy will give you so much pleasure,
a lifetime of memorable treasures.
So enjoy every moment with this special boy,
even though he'll want bigger toys.
He will always be happy,
having both of you as his mummy and daddy.
