A Mad Year's Last Poem Poem by Shameca Biggs

A Mad Year's Last Poem

I roll down the river lightly afloat.

Eyes closed, nostrils flared, while humming the melody of the waters.

Swish, sway and swivel goes the boat.

And suddenly I must see, I must know where about I'm carried.

Eyelids wide, ears sharp, while singing aloud my heart's song.

Rocking, gliding and dipping in a sea upon which now, I'm married.

Married to the sea. The sea of which I belong.

No more boat. Even my clothes are gone.

Now apart of the sea; the sea of which I've always longed.

Oh river, river please carry me,  through curve and bend to the sea.
