A Letter To Him.... Poem by Mallika Achuthan Menon

A Letter To Him....

Rating: 4.3

Dear,
For me,
Sheets of papers seemed insufficient alas!
To scribble in them all
intense feelings about you.
Promptly they heaped up
in the nooks of my heart which
always beats each time only for you.
Your absence made impact so severe in me
I can't even express its extremity.

Drop by drop dripping droplets from eyes
and my sorrowful sighs
which suppressed the mind.
In one breath and one tone
they enquired me that,
how will each moment pass if you aren't here?
An exhausting loneliness overwhelming me now
And an uncanny silence is engulfing home
Where your voice and my laughter are entwining
in our ever lasting merriment
and never ending chit chat.
Vapidness widely spread all over there
Now it is still like a nest without birdie.
As you aren't here somewhere so close to me
My sinking mind squirmed in a wriggling agony
like a fish which is kept out of water for a while.

I want to lay my head
on your chest as usual
for listening the lup dup beats
of your heart simply.
Those gentle rise and fall of your chest
Lulled me to sleep swiftly, my dear!
As of now sleepless nights ogled at me
by making very many mocking faces.
You are the form and I am the shadow
How will I exist sans you my love?

Blooming dawns, beaming dusks
and silence fondled chilly nights.
Come one after one but none I notice
I wonder my psyche or physic more lethargic?
I crave to coil myself in your arms to
seek the warmth which I like the most.
There I used to secure safety at its best
and nothing more I need than that!

Our days get filled with little things like
jolly jokes, many petty quarrels
Hugs and kisses here and there...
Pain of separation, fear of isolation
right now swallowing me part by part to
make my morale weak and bleak.

Present pathetic state of mind
I compiled as a letter for you competently
Though it is a wee bit of
my total unrest and distress.
Nothing more to pen, my love!
Waiting for you impatiently
what can rather I can do dear?

To scribble them all sheets of papers are insufficient to express words of emotion. As such these days soft papers are available on computer screens where we express letters more. Waiting for ultimately pen waits for love. Very fantastic poem shared....10

This poem truly expresses the distress and emotions that come from missing a lover who is gone. The effects on the body and the inability to get on with life in a normal fashion are eloquently portrayed and the fact that words are insufficient and not enough to really express what is felt is noted as you say, sheets of papers seemed insufficient, alas, such is always the case. Well written, thank you for sharing.

I was away from home from many years. My wife used to write me letter every week. The feeling I got from your poem is the same as I experienced many years ago... from every letter, every week.

Passionately penned feelings of love for the loved one and impatience of waiting for him is gem packed in this love letter. It reminds me of an old Hindi film song, likhe jo khat tujhe..... It is superb.
