Your Own Accountability! Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Your Own Accountability!

Rating: 5.0

Many dreams assemble in the corridors of the mind,
some that take imagination up in a hurricane of hope,
some that takes fear and resentment down the slope;
yet men and mind never sleeps or broods to dare
uphill or downhill withers the steps of life with time.
As joy, sorrow, victory, defeat clings to the beating heart
don't let prejudice, don't let the jealousy glitter in the eyes;
if what others can achieve was their accomplishment;
don't let hatred, don't let envy take over your thoughts
if what others aspired to do what you could not;
don't let malevolence, don't let your power destroy
if in you rests those arms that can hold another high;
for as you store contempt in the the chambers of your inner-self
which you undeservingly impose upon others
they roll with invisible wounds below their skins;
and as you feel content you won your vengeance
how will you reply to God for such acts of untruthfulness
which you have done just to gain respite for your trivial revenge;
and as you start to move away from the action of life
how will you reply to yourself for your mischief to others
which will appear before your very own eyes
when helplessly you will face your own accountability
on that book of credit and debit of good deeds and bad?
