When You Come Poem by Maya Angelou

When You Come

Rating: 3.6

When you come to me, unbidden,
Beckoning me
To long-ago rooms,
Where memories lie.

Offering me, as to a child, an attic,
Gatherings of days too few.
Baubles of stolen kisses.
Trinkets of borrowed loves.
Trunks of secret words,

I CRY.

This is so painful to read. The innocence of her childhood stripped bare. When he comes, she cries. I love Maya Angelou. She is a phenomenal human being.
