Water Scarcity
There is water in river, lake and sea
But still there is scarcity of drinking water,
We cannot drink stagnant and salty water,
There is underground water in boring well
But motor is not running for lifting it,
There is hand-pump well but
Water is not properly lifted
Because, level of water has gone down,
Municipality supplies water twice
At mid-night and at early morning,
Each supply lasts up to one hour,
Many common people gather to collect water
With there varieties of buckets,
Few get and few go with empty utensils,
Tanker comes into street and slowly moves,
Few collect water and few miss,
Water, water they cry whole day,
Few fight in street and few cry,
Few hide faces in shyness and few die,
Water is sold in bottles and jars,
Who have money they buy these bottles and jars
And who do not have they dry faces,
Even having money few do not get water jars,
There is competition for drinking water.
Although monsoon has come with rain,
Water has brought flood in many places,
Muddy water is unsuitable for drinking,
Boring well water has
High total dissolved salts,
Drinking this water may be dangerous
As it may affect kidney, lever and
A person may get risk of high blood pressure,
But still many use it without separation of salts
And few use machines to separate salts and purify,
Sometimes it is noticed that
Many do not get water at all for daily livelihood
But supply water flows down from broken pipes
In street drains and water waste is noticed,
Sometimes supply water in old dirty pipes
It carries many diseases to contaminate
And Jaundice disease is one of them,
Drinking water should be pure with
Required minerals and vitamins within it,
We should be careful for water choice.
Although we are advanced still we suffer,
Day by day water scarcity is noticed,
This problem is a serious problem,
Preserving water for future is necessary,
We should not spend more water unnecessarily,
Every drop of water has great value in life,
A thirsty man feels its importance,
Water carries memories of every emotion,
Let us promise to save water
As this is the true nectar in God's garden,
God directs us to preserve every natural resource
And we take oath today to save water,
We hail to water and we hail to the creator of water,
Great is our God who warns us at right time!

Water scarcity is acutely felt in Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai! Rain water is not properly conserved during rainy season to be used in summer. We pollute our water sources and waste a lot of water unnecessarily! We have no thought for tomorrow! Water is God's gift to man and we have an obligation to keep our water clean and unpolluted. This is a timely reminder, beautifully given!

Water scarcity is a bigger problem these days. The society should learn the proper usage of water. Water should not be polluted and should not be wasted. Water resource is great resource available in nature and given by God. We should honour water and preserve. This poem is outstanding as per my feelings.
