True Happiness Poem by Oluwatosin Thomas

Within the paradigm of life, it's been empirically proven that Humans seek happiness more than anything else, believing that a happy heart thinks straight in all spheres. In the same vein, Humans seek love as a well so grave knowing with love happiness will come through. They seek money with an assurance that money is like a tool, a compass that guides and directs their path to the place where happiness sprouts forth. Well, within the sphere of my knowledge, i know there are exceptions to this but before you medias hurl in your comments, spare me some minutes to address this reall quick.

Looking from the clues of listed sources or ways to be happy from the ones mentioned above, it's been seen from the societal perspective of life that money is the only medium through which one measures worldy success, but what we fail to understand or in a lighter note, what we know but ignored all the time is the fact that we always believe money can buy us happiness. Well it will go a long way but money can't afford happiness, and you should know neither can poverty.

Another case human tend to focus on is the perspective of attaining academics degrees, we all go to school and get ourselves educated with things believingthat with certificate of many disciplines, our happiness can sprout from it. Well, one thing we should know is the fact that prior to the days of schooling, happiness was then a sad thing to many for they couldnt find their true muse of it. Now do not get me wrong, I'm not saying school is evil and there's nothing to gain, but all I'm saying is understand it's true meaning, school or attaining knowledge is not a source for happiness (Proverbs 17: 16)and neither can illiteracy germinate one.

So many depressed and lonely hearts seek to love or seek to be loved, thus; they mount the hill to the top where love resides. They tend to be in love, creating an awe of loving someone, this they tag as relationship. They believe happiness can be contagious from someone else, this they hope they would get from their spouse or partner as the case may be. But what they fail to understand is the fact that love is a mutual thing, it co-exist between two people that may not be in the same rightful state of mind always at one point in life. By implication, i may love someone but i can never be the source of the person's happiness, one can be happy by being with someone for a life long but not for a life time. Thus, having a relationship or being in love with someone may actually make you see reasons to smile and be happy, but can never be one's true muse of happiness. From this sphere, LOVE as a whole will be used as the centre of discussion.

Overtime, have come to realize that people do things for different motives, and once our expectations behind our intention is not yielding the way we hoped, it tend to affect us in all we do, relationship as a whole is created based on different motives that are not lucid to the partners in it, and for the purpose of not deviating from the sole aim of discussion, if one seeks love or relationship just for the sole aim of being happy, then you should know that prior to the decision of seeking for a relationship to be happy, you were already in a happy state but you didn't just notice, for our emotions atimes cloud our sight to see that which we possess yet craving for what we have already from people or someone that can never get it done for us. Thus, to seek for relationship just to be happy reveals that one was and is already in a happy state, for it takes a happy heart to seek love. An unhappy heart can not know how to love or seek for love or feel it and can not even identify it. And also if one feels happy and you feel expressing the happiness is to show love to someone, well you need to know that love isn't a thing one shares, it radiates around someone and gravitates naturally towards people around you by mere seeing you happy.

By implication, one thing that is important to note is that seeking happiness in love should be the last thing to be done, life is better when you are sad and you seek for happiness from somewhere else aside relationships. One who seeks happiness in love indirectly seeks suffering, for to love or being in love is for suffering to come into place. Nothing lasts forever and nothing stands positive alone, suffering comes the moment your sole aim for a relationship is happiness, for the fear of being cheated on alone in relationship by your partner is the beginning of suffering. Thus, one way to avoid suffering when one seeks happiness in love is not to love LOVE at all, but on the otherhand one suffers as well from not loving, for loneliness will be the order of the day; for to love is to be loved, to be happy is to fall in love, to be happy is to be loved, but then in the same vein, falling in love because you are happy is to welcome suffering for your initial happiness that drives you to love will be shattered due to fear of unknown.

However, happiness, love and suffering are interwoven. Suffering doesn't come alone, it's as a result of happiness and love being merged together. Happiness plus love brings suffering, suffering plus love doesn't bring happiness, for to love is for one to suffer, and also one suffers from not loving, and at the sametime, love doesn't bring happiness (1 cor 10: 23)and also happiness is not enough reason to love. Thus; nothing makes one happy, happiness doesn't rest on anything, happiness is a thing of the mind, it comes from within, it's a choice to make not a reason for love to emerge. And please do not mistake this as joy, for joy on its natural stateis the feeling of happiness, which shows joy precedes happiness, joy is an inward thing that showcases itself on the outer part through its radiance on us; happiness is the outward expression of our inward feeling(Joy) .

Nevertheless, money can't buy you happiness and neither can poverty elude one's happiness, education can't premised one's happiness and neither can illiteracy germinate happiness. Love can't buy you happiness, and neither can hatred afford it. Nothing responds to one's happiness, nothing makes one happy, happiness is a thing of the mind, its a choice. Happiness itself can't produce a life time happiness, except when your inner self is watered with the joy of the lord, for in him alone is where our happiness resides, it's a choice to make - Make yours! ! !
