The World We Are Facing Poem by Abby Sze

The World We Are Facing

Rating: 3.5

In the crowd, head to head align,
A great Marathon is about to start.
What it matters not about the run,
Take a picture,
'I am doing this' is to declare.
'I am super awesome' is sent.
'Oh shit, No Wi-Fi connected here'

Straight line on the street, people lining up,
They are waiting for the brand new shop.
Hey, it was owned by a hip star.
I don't need those stuff,
But it's cool to be at trending top,
See that guy, What a crappy look!

On a busy parking lot, a Mercedes stop,
Well dressed guy with sunglasses get off.
He earn salary barely pay for rent.
But how could he afford a car? !
Don't you know we have credit card,
No money doesn't matter,
We could buy the world!

When will we stop this growing self-centered.
We tell the world whatsoever that is unimportant,
Sending meaningless messages,
So we can get attention.
How lonely are we? Or
How suck are we at bearing loneliness? Or
What are we trying to prove
As we get many 'like'
And What could 'like' actually bring us?

More loneliness, I would say.

But who is not lonely now? I then think.
