The Tree Poem by Phil Soar

The Tree

Rating: 4.8

I find it very hard to see
Why I grew up to be a tree
I grow my leaves and then they fall
I don't know why they grow at all
I'm home to insects bugs and lice
They eat my bark, which isn't nice
I'm older than the oldest man
I spread my branches where I can
But seldom have I felt at ease
For I have caught Dutch Elm disease
Yet every year I have new buds
And love my life within the woods
