The Times Poem by Prayag Saikia

The Times

O'Osyris, offspring of the earth and sky
The leading denizen of a lifeless Egypt
Give me justice if you can
I'm an insect of the papyrus
To me history is the most endearing of dishes

Along the deserted path advance the successions of my birth

My bodiless entity spreads all around
I sink the Atlantis
Immerse the setting sun of civilization
Pacifying the Kurukshetra I seize
The divine vision from the blind emperor Dhritarashtra
I advance bearing only the form
Of the dream of a path
Of war and peace
Of war and peace

(Translated from Original Assamese by Krishna Dulal Barua)
