The Tiger
The tiger, on the other hand,
Is kittenish and mild,
And makes a pretty playfellow
For any little child.
And mothers of large families
(Who claim to common sense)
Will find a tiger well repays
The trouble and expense.
ONE: a playful and humorous take on the contrasting nature of tigers and kittens.
TWO: The poem is structured in a way that highlights the differences between the two animals, with the tiger being portrayed as a fierce and dangerous creature, while the kitten is seen as playful and harmless.
