The Sounds Poem by Vera Sidhwa

The Sounds

The clanging bells, the chiming chimes,
The pitter-patter of tiny feet.
The flowing of water out of the jug.
The coffee sloshing around in the mug.

I hear and I hear and I am charmed,
With all the sounds,
All around.
I hear and hear and hear all the sounds.

The screech of car wheels,
On pavement so loud.
The people talking aloud,
In a crowd.

I just listen and listen to all the sounds,
All the sounds around.
In God's Heavenly sounds,
Are the flutter of angel wings all around.
