The Cantos Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Cantos

The Cantos

Ezra,
Did you see my horse?
I saw your shadow in the cage.
I read your Cantos
You returned home, forced, chained
Douglas McCain is on his way
McAuthur, I want to say
The one who isn't like you
Unable he is in poetry
Unaware he is in matching
Avant-gardes and patrons
He's there to revolt and rebel; He
Soul in hand without pen
Walks; doesn't talk
Slouches toward Bethlehem
Say hi if encountered
Say "Hi"
Finish the Cantos
Finish the long, incomplete poem
He too, may, one day
Be lucky; recognized
With a reverse destiny; fortune
To him, say "Hi"
Beneath layers of lies
Hisses and hushes
We buried, drowned
History may one day reckon
Screen right from the wrong...
