You have to help them
for they have come with hope;
they had their own country
their own land to work and sleep;
but they had to run in search of life
they had to fear for their own existence;
without deliberation or choice
they have left behind everything
their homes, their beds, their cars;
they came by boats, roads and trains
they carried with them their hearts and minds
they could not wait back
lest they get slaughtered or shot;
treacherous was their fate
whether they chose to stay or flee;
and as days moved into months
they were rushing into an unknown fate,
children, fathers, mothers,
brothers, sisters in multitudes
with blank looks on their faces;
worries changed their directions
as they knew they could not fight back,
they had to take this last route to safety
they jumped on trains to nowhere or somewhere
and as they alighted, they did not think
they did not blink, they felt relieved;
they forgot they had no destination
they believed in God and relied on humanity.
