State Of Being Poem by Ravikumar C.P.

State Of Being

Kannada poem by B.R. Lakshmana Rao
Translated by C.P. Ravikumar

Straight towards me a white dove flew,
Her spotless feathers fluttering,
Beady red eyes shining -
'An eagle is in pursuit! Save me, will you? '

Opening the doors of my heart
I cried - 'Quick! Get inside! '
Having found a place to hide,
She locked herself in an innermost part.

We both sighed in relief! Did I say relief?
Something flutters in my chest, of late
Even if I step outside, such has been my state!
My heart or the dove? Can't tell, good grief!
