Soundscapes Poem by Bill Cantrell

Soundscapes

Rating: 5.0

Oh you precious flower,
Sadness can certainly be undone
With faith and eyes swelled up with tears,
Keep reaching for the sun
Although the nights are lonely,
And the bed seems an unwanted friend
The dawn shares its own tears of dew,
Yet the sun is drying each of them
A pillow wet with hopelessness,
Has no place left for dreams
Place this poem inside of it,
Then try to get some sleep
For I have filled it full of soundscapes,
To set your heart at ease
With the gentle rhythm of the oceans waves,
And peaceful winds blowing through the trees
The crackling noise of a glowing fire,
A lullaby whispering in your ears,
Each one casting its special charm,
To minimize your fears
Sheep are jumping across the fence,
Leaving you their wool,
Fill your pillow and dream sweet dreams
And never let them go

Soundscapes- -Part One- -I came flying to such a lovely sounding title like a hummingbird scenting sweetness. That is Bill Cantrell for you- -brings you in with a siren song of a title and then you are caught up in the magic of his verse.

Part 2- - There is no finding a favorite verse when a poem flows from line to line carrying sensitive words and images unbroken and always building to more and more - -but these especially touched me and brought tears to my eyes because I know you understand the human heart in its courage and in its frailty- -
