Sonnet: The Splendor Of Life On Earth Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Splendor Of Life On Earth

Rating: 4.5

Our earthly life is filled with struggles rife;
All challenges and ‘ups and downs', we face;
Mere roses all, without much thorns, isn't life;
If all is drab, we cannot spend a day!

Our earth's surface is wonderful and nice;
Each season's magic, Nature timely brings;
Yet, humans want not banes but boons and vice;
This earth for human beings has all things!

What beauty bathes the things on earth galore!
Dissatisfied, we make the landscape weird;
Discontent man prefers all things new, more;
He eats all flora, fauna, dirt and bird.

Sinfulness fills the heart of every man!
In virtues path, God takes the soul by plan!

Dedicated to the greatest Indian soul-
Mahatma Gandhiji, on his birthday anniversary.

A beautiful poem. It speaks to the unyielding desires of man, whether they be good or ill.
