Rape Victims, Is It Enough To Call Them Victims, Rape Victims? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Rape Victims, Is It Enough To Call Them Victims, Rape Victims?

Rape victims,
Rape victims,
Is it,
Is it enough
To call,
Call them
Victims,
Rape victims,
Is it,
Is it enough
To call,
Call them
Rape,
Rape victims,
Are they,
Are they
Not,
Not our daughters,
Daughters,
Sisters,
Sisters,
Our own,
Own,
Only,
Only just,
Just women,
Women
Sinful,
Sinful and guilty,
Unchaste,
Unchaste and unholy,
Unholy and impure
And characterless,
Are,
Are they not,
Not women,
Women
Full, full of the milk
Of kindness,
Kindness,
Human,
Human and motherly?

And even if,
Even if are,
Are they the victims,
Victims of rape,
Treat,
Treat you kindly,
With so much of compassion,
Love and pardon,
Pardon,
Can't you,
Can't you forgive her,
Forgive her,
The victims,
Victims of rape,
O, you, the people,
The people of old mind-set,
Mind-set
And belief
Always,
Always in search of,
The search of the holy,
Holy things
And pure,
Say you,
Are you,
Are you yourself pure,
Pure?

The media too,
Too has
No work,
No work to do,
To do,
But to highlight,
Highlight
The helplessness,
Helplessness of hers,
Hers
So disheveled
And distraught,
Distraught
On the path,
Path of life,
So devastated,
Devastated
And marooned
On the path,
Path of life.

The govt. too,
The govt. too takes,
Takes not care,
Care of
The poor,
The poor girl,
Girl,
The helpless,
Helpless victim,
The rape victim
Who is but,
But so miserable,
Miserable and pathetic
Before,
Before the situations,
Untoward situations and circumstances
Of life,
This life.
