Peace Amidst Idols Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Peace Amidst Idols

Torches on the stonewalls
Iron gate
Trials like hemlock counselors
Widows who killed their king
Wine deep blue as night
Portent in the stars of Asia

We are at war
We wait for the prophet
Your love is insurgency
Champion assassins
Great boughs whisper
Cities fill with dark strangers

Walks of prayer
The quiet spirit
Serenity comes like a moon
Joy rises like incense
Angels guard my paths
I become the true sojourner

Peace amidst the idols
