Pain-Killers! Poem by Shahzia Batool

Pain-Killers!

Rating: 3.9

The only acceptable killers
which are not criminals
are the pain-killers-
liquid, powdered, tablet forms
kill the pain what body suffers
run in veins
killing the pains;
I do not really understand
how and when to tackle the pain,
it is said to be the sign of life too,
for corpses never feel pain
but beating and pulsating hearts,
even then, pain has to be killed too
what Huxley gives his own reason
he says pain is nothing but an opinion,
can easily be forgotten
by a lil mental diversion;
alright, but if he says right
then sunset is my pain-killer too,
what Keats means in a deep Ode
do not use the numbness things
if you wish to seek the pain
if you wish to taste its taste;
the sight of a rose is a pain-killer too
but not a recommended one,
for the prick of the thorns
as you touch by fingers
does not let you go into oblivion
which you seek by the sight of the rose,
so it is not a good pain-killer;
I seek for one, the special one
to subside this my present pain,
a tender touch, a gentle hold
i can't get it back now
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
my mom's voice was a pain-killer too...

we all have our painkillers; it can be your mother's tender touch or your father's sweet n soothing voice; someone's presence and sometimes the satisfaction that someone is always there for you to help you come out of your pains and worries, this very thought can also be a PAINKILLER :))) this is TRULY a BEAUTIFUL WRITE! ! ! A tender touch, a gentle hold, and soothing voice are pain healers. The traditional painkillers only kill the senses that feel the pain and in reality the pain itself may be there. Beautiful poem. Thank you.

What is the worse pain? One that comes from the soul, one that which comes from the body. We live surrounded by pain. Some analgesics in no cure. Poets know this well

A wonderful write Ma'am! But when reality speaks, it is not pain than take our minds over, but the fear of pain. And fear of pain comes from fear in one's own ability to face.

There is the physical pain and then there is is the pain of the heart. A soothing touch or word can ease emotional pain and also help ease physical pain.
